The Berkeley Dressage Saddle


The latest addition to the L & R Saddles range is our Berkeley High Performance dressage saddle. This model incorporates all of the refinements expected in a state of the art dressage saddle. Our Berkeley tree has a unique shaped pommel and swept back points to give wither clearance and complete freedom of shoulder movement. We have also incorporated a classic dressage stirrup bar to give the rider the exact leg position for the perfect seat. This models tree has a sculptured waist to give extreme close contact which allows the riders thigh bone to “fall away“ effortlessly from the pelvis. The close contact panels are wool stuffed and are completely malleable allowing them to mould to contours of the horses back.

Our unique girthing system enables the forward girth strap to be moved from the point position to  behind the point, this coupled with the rear billet attached to a balancing ring will give the correct line up of the girth for superb stability.

The Berkeley is crafted in the finest English leathers and is available in X-grip Water buffalo or smooth Bull hide both are manufactured to our exacting standards by Clayton of Chesterfield. These leathers need no “breaking in” period they will give a wonderful close contact feel to the rider.

The Berkeley saddle comes with 2 sets of removable knee rolls Large, Medium and pencil shape. This models tree has a sculptured waist to give extreme close contact which allows the riders thigh bone to “fall away“ effortlessly from the pelvis. The close contact panels are wool stuffed and are completely malleable allowing them to mould to contours of the horses back.

The Ellipse Saddle

The Ellipse saddle is designed for the broad shouldered flatter backed breeds such as the Arabian, Morgan and Cob types. It has a hooped tree being more open in the pommel area, a flatter profile in the panels to accommodate the broader backed horse.

The Showring Saddle

The only saddle on the market that is specifically designed for Show Hack, but can also be used in dressage for riders who require a medium deep seat and a smaller flap. It comes with regular short billets, but is available to order with long billets for use with dressage.

The Scottsdale Classic Saddle

For the rider whose preference is a deep seat, this is the answer. It features all the same refinements as the Louisville but gives a little more security that a slightly deeper seat affords the rider.
